29/04/18 – 7Oaks Triathlon

Tunbridge Wells Triathlon Club were well represented at the 7Oaks Triathlon, the club topping the table in both the male and female team competition. Over 300 athletes completed this well supported early season event, with brisk conditions contrasting harshly to those enjoyed over the previous weekend.

The race began with a 400m pool swim, start times staggered to spread the field. The challenging 15 mile bike route tested the legs before finishing with a tough 5 mile trail run, through the grounds of Knowle Park.

Kieran Fitzpatrick was first home for the club, crossing the line 5th overall, in a time of 1hr28. Improvement across all three disciplines secured a 2min PB over last year’s race. TWTC enjoyed plenty of age group success, collecting a hatrick of trophies and many others well placed in their category.

David Bagge was awarded 1st M50 with a time of 1hr33. Quick to acknowledge that the swim is not his strongest discipline, Bagge propelled himself into contention with the 7th fastest bike split of the
day. A strong run held off fellow club mate, Eric Perrier, in an impressive all round performance.

Jodie Rickets secured 1st F30 with a time of 1hr48. Consistency across all three disciplines was capped with the 4th fastest run leg and a great confidence boost for the season ahead. Claire Roche claimed 1st F60 with a time of 2hr10.
